The Ama Yangri Trek is a short and easy trekking route in the Helambu Region, north of Kathmandu. The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Timbu and then trekking to Tarkeghyang, a beautiful Hyolmo village with an old monastery. The main highlight of the trek is hiking to Ama Yangri(3,771m), a famous viewpoint offering panoramic views of Langtang Lirung Himal(7,727m), Ganesh Himal(7,422m), Dorje Lakpa(6,966m), Yala Peak(5,732m), Shishapangma(8,027m), Naya Kanga(5,844m) and Gaurishankar Himal(7,134m).

The Ama Yangri Trek is a short and scenic trekking route in the Helambu Region, located north of Kathmandu. The highest point of the trek is Ama Yangri(3,771m), one of the best viewpoints near Kathmandu Valley.
The journey usually starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Timbu(1,580m), followed by a trek to the beautiful Sherpa and Hyolmo village of Tarkeghyang, which is one of the oldest and most culturally rich settlements in Helambu. From Tarkeghyang, trekkers hike through rhododendron and pine forests to reach Ama Yangri Hill, a sacred place with a monastery and meditation site.
From the top of Ama Yangri, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Langtang Lirung(7,227m), Dorje Lakpa(6,966m), Ganesh Himal(7,422m), Gaurishankar(7,134m), Shishapangma(8,027m, visible in clear weather), Yala Peak(5,732m), Naya Kanga(5,844m).
